Welcome to this lovely peaceful 13 acres of north Shropshire, just a few miles from Market Drayton. Owned and run by Jill Allsopp, drawing on her 40 years of horsemanship and founded on understanding and common sense, it aims to be a place where our equine friends can be just that - friends with people again.

They can get rid of the stress of whatever situation they have found themselves in, relax and begin the process of restoring their physical and psychological health so that they can go on to a long term loan home. There are stables, shelters, a round pen and a manege so that the facilities are there to enable the learning process to take place as effectively and sympathetically as possible. There are other horses with whom they can form a herd, for the sense of security that provides them with, and they are encouraged to learn to cope with the things life might throw at them.

Specially designed round pen for new intake, and manege for ground work and ridden work to assess suitability for loan homes

New indoor stables for equines needing rest and recuperation, and a field shelter to keep old horses out of the wind and rain

There are also a very small number of holiday or retirement liveries whose owners pay for their keep. This provides an income to maintain the fencing, manage the grazing and have the haylage harvested, as well as pay for electicity water etc - in short, meet the overheads. That means that all donations can go directly to the care of the horses who need it - no one takes a salary, and the only overheads that need paying for are those that the liveries can't meet. This has never happened - Jill provides the use of her property, expertise and time for the benefit of those horses in trouble, but with costs rising it is always a concern.

If you want to enquire about the facilities and rates for livery for horses or ponies at grass, contact us by email or phone. Rates normally start from around £20 per week, depending on requirements and duration of stay.

We rely on lots of help - from sponsors, volunteers, those who provide professional services often at discounted rates, and if you would like to help, whether practical help or fundraising, please get in touch. Please check out the pages of this site which detail who they are and how you can join them, as well as some of the equines who benefit.
