This is what it is all about!
Bracken
This delightful Shetland pony mare was signed over because her owner was unable to control her weight and therefore she was prone to laminitis. After a few weeks on a bare paddock with hay, vitamins and minerals to meet her nutritional needs, she was ready to move on. She was loaned to some people in Somerset, who have subsequently passed her on (with our consent and appropriate homechecks) to a neighbour who totally fell for her charms. She is currently the apple of a local little girls eye and her best friend!
Bonnie & Arian
Bonnie and Arian came here from EMW Powys sanctuary to be rehomed. Bonnie had been out on loan as a yearling, then returned when circumstances changed, and it was discovered that she was in foal. She had Arian when she was only two years old herself - not ideal by any means but she coped with good nutrition and management. Arian was a total charmer, and wormed her way into the hearts of a family just outside Cardiff, who took both of them together.
Charlie (aka Lacey's Pet)
On arrival in November The following April

For a 22 year old ex racehorse used to the finer things in life, being abandoned in a field in South Wales was almost the end of the road. The local people who had done their best to take care of him asked if we could take him, and so he came here, in a state which spoke of barely adequate food and shelter for a gentleman of his advancing years (see above). His teeth needed some attention, but basically he needed food and warmth and lots of TLC, and as he began to regain his strength, so he also regained his character. He is currently on loan near Welshpool as companion to a young cob who needs to learn from his elders and betters. The latest news on Charlie is that he has developed Cushings disease, so has to be on a daily pergolide tablet, and because one of the effects can be laminitis, special care needs to be given to his diet and his feet. From being in severe pain, he is now much more comfortable and beginning to enjoy life in his loan home again. We do hope he has another year or two to enjoy himself.
Homer

Homer's only crime at the age of 25 was to aggravate an old tendon injury and so be unsuitable to ride. His owner advertised him on a Horses for Sale website for just £100, and the members of a web forum spotted him and clubbed together to buy him to save him from the dealers and the abbatoir. He came to Mill Green and has stayed waiting for a delayed loan home. Suddenly we had an appeal from an owner of a bereaved old mare, the survivor of three, who desperately needed company to lift her out of her depression at the loss of her last friend. Homer stepped into the breach and now is one of a devoted couple - he has helped not only himself but his lady friend, and is such a pleasant character we are told he will have a home for life.
Within less than a week this is them fast asleep, happy to have a field mate and as relaxed as it gets. We do love happy endings!!

Louis

Rescued from an abusive home, and reputed to be around 8 years old, 13 hand pony Louis was found a loan home an another part of the country as a riding pony. But when a vet had to attend for another reason he informed the loaners that he was nearer 20 than 8, and his hind legs were so damaged he would never be able to work. So, in need of a companion home Louis came here and among the things he needed to learn was that not all humans are bad. Being caught was a problem for him. He now has a 5* home with a lady who has two other rescued ponies and enjoys treating them like equine royalty.
Russet

Sweet little old lady of 14hh who came here when she simply had nowhere else to go, having been returned from a loan home. Polite, shy and retiring, happy to take whatever life threw at her, she really did deserve a forever loving home - which is what she now has.
