With the right help and rehabilitation, the horses below will be available for loan. If you are looking for a riding horse or companion and there isn't one here that suits your requirements get in touch - we often know of horses available but still with their present owner. Please be aware that you will need to sign a formal loan agreement that imposes the requirement to obtain third party insurance, and not to breed from a horse you have from us, and that should it be found that the horse is neglected in some way we can retrieve it at short notice and you will have to meet the transport costs. All of course designed to ensure no horse ever suffers again in its life. A copy of the agreement can be available to you if you email and request.
Sophie
On arrival

Sophie, registered Holsteiner mare, suffered from lameness for most of the summer and her young owner just could not afford the treatment she needed. In her own interests and with great regret he signed her over.
SOPHIE IS NOW ON LOAN
Cassidy

At pretty much 17 hands and the age of 20 Cassidy had never left home before. He had lived in the same field with his mum until she died a few years ago, and remained there afterwards. But with his owner terminally ill, he was unable to stay there any longer, so he came to Mill Green. Bravely he loaded on a huge horsebox and arrived looking around him with mild curiosity, but slowly it has dawned on him that his whole life has changed. He has met other horses, and become quite obsessed, clearly worrying that he might be left on his own again, and also not really knowing how to relate to them. After a couple of weeks he is settling down to the routine, and remembering not to barge if he wants to get somewhere in a hurry - he is far too big to run people over!
Cassidy has now been ridden, and went very nicely in the school firstly for one experienced rider and then for one with less experience and confidence. He didn't put a foot wrong.
If you can help and would like to offer him a permanent loan home, get in touch and come and meet him. The separation anxiety will always be there so he should never be left on his own for example while his field buddy is ridden out.
CASSIDY NOW HAS A LOVELY LOAN HOME, WHERE HE IS LOVED AND UNDERSTOOD AND HAS A COUPLE OF FIELD BUDDIES OF HIS OWN SIZE.
And thanks to those who saw their plight on Stable Talk, Russett, Dancer and Harry now have lovely new loan homes and we can concentrate on Cassidy, and any others who may find the sanctuary they need here at Mill Green.
