With the right help and rehabilitation, the horses below will be available for loan. If you are looking for a riding horse or companion and there isn't one here that suits your requirements get in touch - we often know of horses available but still with their present owner. Please be aware that you will need to sign a formal loan agreement that imposes the requirement to obtain third party insurance, and not to breed from a horse you have from us, and that should it be found that the horse is neglected in some way we can retrieve it at short notice and you will have to meet the transport costs. All of course designed to ensure no horse ever suffers again in its life. A copy of the agreement can be available to you if you email and request.

After treatment to her back and muscles

Sophie, registered Holsteiner mare, suffered from lameness for most of the summer and her young owner just could not afford the treatment she needed. In her own interests and with great regret he signed her over, and it became clear that she was desperately uncomfortable. Treatments from spinal therapist Anna Fox and Equine Touch therapist Toni Fowler and Shiatsu with Emma Stanley have sorted out her badly misaligned pelvis and the muscles connected to it - see acknowledgements page to contact these therapists. We have also purchased a Fal Pro rug with silver therapy, recommended to increase blood flow to the compromised muscles and soft tissue

All these soft tissue problems indicated an underlying pain issue, so we have had a lameness assessment done on her and pinpointed the problem to a hock. So begins the process of fusing an arthritic joint - pain relief and work, and she is beginning to respond. She is a joy to handle and a really pleasant ride, and hopefully before too long she will be completely sound with no pain relief.

STOP PRESS *** Sophie is now in a loan home - locally, to be company for a miniature shetland whose best friend had to be put to sleep for health reasons, and friend to a family who had lost their much loved mare. Awaiting formal paperwork but it looks as though she has her hooves well and truly under the table.

And thanks to those who saw their plight on Stable Talk, Russett, Dancer and Harry now have lovely new loan homes and we can concentrate on Sophie, and any others who may find the sanctuary they need here at Mill Green.
